TV’s Worst Adverts First Birthday Competition #2!

It was a year ago today that this madness began and as promised here is the second most exciting day of my TWA life - it’s the TV’s Worst Adverts First Birthday Competition Number 2.

Note to reader: I’m using the phrase “Number 2″ there to mean “second” and not in the “chocolate soldier” sense. Although when you discover what the competition is you might not agree with me…

Anyways, same as last time, the prizes first.

The Prizes

The prize bundle (if I might be so bold to use *bundle*) consists of more random crap.

Woo! More random crap! Yeah!

First up there’s the 4 CD 100 Greatest TV Themes. They may have taken a bit of a liberty describing some of the themes included as “the greatest” (Peter Gunn, anyone?) but they, on the whole, enjoyable. And with nearly 4 and a half hours worth of theme tunes there’s bound to be something you like (Magnum PI, anyone?).

Secondly, there’s Charlie Brooker’s Dawn of the Dumb book - in paper back edition!

Woo! Paper back edition! Yeah!

338 pages of dispatches from the frontline. What’s not to love about that prize?

Finally, there is a cash jackpot of £2.37!

Ker-ching!

There’s is, however, a condition attached to the money. It must be spent (I’d like photographic evidence, if possible) on a 750g jar of Nutella (I was going to buy the jar but posting it to the winner would be a nightmare). And once purchased, I think it only right that the winner conducts a thorough study into the genuine health benefits of eating Nutella everyday for breakfast.

So, that’s the prizes.

The Competition

OK, if you thought the prizes were poor you might want to look away now as I reveal the competition.

As I said, I thought it would be better to have competition that was a little more open ended this time, and as you, the readers of TWA, have helped make TWA what it is today (that’s right, I’m spreading the blame like delicious Nutella on a slice of toast), I’ve come up with the Comments Competition.

Yes, in the spirit of the good old English village fetes’ “How many jelly beans in the jar?” I’d like you to have a guess at how many comments have been left on TV’s Worst Adverts in the past year (that is, up to but not including this post).

Now, I know that you could find out the correct answer simply by trawling through the archives and re-reading all the previous TWA entries but where’s the fun in that?

So go on, have a guess.

To help you out the figure is somewhere between 1000 and 2000 comments.

How to Win Shit

So, leave a comment on this post with your guess at how many comments there are on TV’s Worst Adverts.

The person closest to the correct figure will win the prizes.

If it’s a tie, I’ll put the names in a hat and pull a winner at random.

Once we have a winner I’ll drop you an e-mail to get your address so please don’t leave any contact details other than the usual (including a valid e-mail address) in the comment.

The closing date for the competition is the 18th March 2008. So you’ve only got a week to enter…

Again, sorry to my mates, they can’t enter but the might like to play along at home…

Good luck in what may be the Internet’s Worst Competition!

And just to make the competition even less value, I’m allergic to nuts, so I really wouldn’t appreciate third prize.

    1418 is my guess

If I win the cash jackpot I shall spend it ALL at moonpig.com…

…however I’ll ensure I use the money to make cards that display copyrighted material (like Disney characters or something) then I’ll try and get mooooooonpig sued in the hope that the court case I instigate bankrupts them, removing their advert from our television screens.

DAMN YOU TO HELL MOONPIG DOT COM
