TJ Hughes
6 April 2007 by SilkyA quick question for you. Who do you hire to flog your products if you can’t afford real celebrities? You hire their relatives, that’s who!
So come on down Graham Rooney, Peter Williams, Martha Ross and Jean Vorderman for the new TJ Hughes adverts. The price is right!
Now these ads aren’t actually all that bad except maybe for the fact their whole concept is based on a lie. When they say “We don’t spend money on top name celebrities to bring you low prices” they clearly mean “we can’t spend money on top name celebrities because it would affect our profits too much”.
TJ Hughes is a bit of a low class brand and with these adverts (and the people they’ve picked to appear in them) they’re pretty much cementing that status. Trying to cash in on some of the *celebs* kudos without coughing up the money. That’s just cheap. What more do you expect from cheeky scousers though?

i work at a tj’s as well and had to put up with the constant TJ HUGHE’S, that Graham Rooney used to say, the frail voice of Jean? Vorderman, and the bear like voice of Robbie’s Dad! Atleast the new one doesnt make me wanna smash al the tellies!!

WHAT would half-baked comedians do without the proverbial lame brain
fallback of the humourless patronising of a towns population with the incredibly
original line
- “Those ****** Scoucers”
(*Please substitute whatever dopey adjective happens to meet one’s childish mind at the time!)

I quite like theses adverts. There is nothing wrong with them.
