Sky+ – Utter Simplicity

26 May 2008 by Silky

You know, I’ve heard few more convincing arguments to get Sky+ – what with it’s exorbitant monthly charges only to find yourself watching re-runs of the Good Life on UKTVGold – then the fact that Ross Kemp‘s nan has it.

How celebrity obsessed would you really have to be to do anything just because Ross Kemp’s nan has done it?

Note to readers: I would like to point out at this moment that the blue rinse I’ve had done was through my own personal choice that was in no way influenced by Kemp’s nan’s hair style.

Yes, it seems that the best Sky could get out of Britain’s best loved man-child/fake hardman/lobotomised monkey impersonator is that his nan has Sky+ to watch the snooker.

Ross Kemp’s Not Mental

I think you’ll agree, it’s his utter simplicity that’s his genius.

Judge for yourself.

Forgive me if my irony alarm needs its batteries changing but surely this ad is more aimed at the elderly or those whose parents are getting on a bit, for instance Felicity Kendall, John Humphries etc. I think it actually get’s its point across rather well. “Old People: Don’t be scared of this new-fangled electro-box, it’s actually much easier that that VCR your son bought for you and that you’ve never used”.

Mind you I once bought some Double Velvet Bog Roll after I saw Ian McShane’s aunt using it in ad. (This may or may not have actually happened)

This ad’s been annoying me, mainly as it’s been played on Channel 4 on practically EVERY ad break for the past week.

It’s the way he laughs when he says his nan watches the snooker back. As if anyone gives a toss.

Never mind this and other adverts – what about the appalling BT Business ads? Whoever had the frankly wierd idea of twinning smarmy Peter Jones off Dragon’s Den with Gremlins?! Any chance of featuring this one in future on your excellent blog?

I was in Canada a few weeks back. You haven’t lived until you’ve seen some of the terrible ads you get on local TV there. Canadian ads make Ross Kemps nan’s Sky+ look like Fellini.

    @ _f – Ooh, I’d love a toasted Fellini right now.

@Pete – Love that site. Cheers.

Felicity Kendal’s sly little tongue flick disturbs me the most, like she’s got a bit of chutney from her ploughman’s stuck to her face or something…

Felicity Kendals over stretched face makes me want to hurl.
I also want Michael Parkinson to die..

Im surprised the BT ad doesnt feature here too, maybe it is somewhere. They have changed it from “bee movie, id pay to watch that” to “iron man, id pay to watch that”. Something better would be “the man on the advert having his face smashed in, id pay to watch that”

Sky Plus is another waste of time.

    Sky +, utter useless wank
