Chicago Town Pizza Sponsors American Idol
April 13th, 2008Some might say that watching American Idol is torture enough but having to sit through these Chicago Town pizza adverts every ad break compounds that torture no end:
Much like the pizzas they are advertising these 10 second thumb screws are exceedingly cheap and particularly tasteless.
All feature a hapless bunch of misfits who were found, I presume, scavenging round the clothes recycling bins at the local Asda by the production company. Although, quite aptly for sponsorship of a TV talent show, the *stars* are clearly desperate to get on TV now matter how badly they have to degrade themselves in front of the viewing public.
Such as the charmingly retiring girl in the advert shown above.
As she (amazingly) manages to “out-slag” Girls Aloud, with her bingo wings flailing and bosomers heaving in her bestest River Island dress, I can’t help but wonder “Why?” (For the record, I also normally wonder whether I’m going to keep my tea down).
Why would you do that to yourself?
What did they tell her that made her think appearing in that advert was a good idea?
I guess they offered to pay her in Chicago Town pizzas and she was more than happy with this deal to make herself look like a giant lime and orange jelly having a fit.
But Chicago Town, what do you think she makes you look like?

I think it’s a bit out of order slagging that girl off mate she was just reading a script and doing what they asked her to do it is nothing to do with her, to be honest with you it is people like you that have women becoming anorexic with the way that you talk here, the main reason they probably chose this advert style is because it is on the front of american idol you do get a lot of bad singers and a lot of people do watch the show for a laugh to see the people who aren’t that good, so to be honest with you they have done their research into the market they can target at, and one more the advert stuck with you didnt it, point is it got you talking about it which has given them a hell of a lot more publicity and now it is number one advert on this site so a lot more people are now going to watch it so they have probably set out to do what they wanted to do lol.

Well, that’s a long sentence…
The main point I was trying to make was “Why would you do that to yourself?” so I think it’s fair to say I disagree with your “it is nothing to do with her”. I dare say she wasn’t forced to make the advert at gun point…
Plus, how you came to “it is people like you that have women becoming anorexic” I’ll never know…

I don’t think pointing out this girl’s unfortunate choice of outfit combined with her body size is the sort of thing to make women want to be anorexic. I certainly wouldn’t wear that top with those arms.

I think you are being really harsh, and it is comments like that which make girls think that they have to be stick thin/boy like and bony to be attractive, ok her singings not great but I actually think she is really attractive.. she may not be cast in the best light in the actual ad, but shes got an attractive face and figure.. maybe be a little nicer in future?

Thanks for leaving a comment Bobby and we’re all entitled to our opinions but, I’m sorry to say, in this case yours is wrong.
The comment made in the post is about her seemingly having no self respect and not behaving with even the slightest amount of dignity.
I don’t care if you’re fat or thin, green or orange, male or female, this is TV’s Worst Adverts and if you appear in an advert acting like an arse you’re fair game.

that depends if the advert is deliberately designed to make it “seem” like you are being an ass in homage to all the people who DO act like an ass in the auditions process. It is obviously paying homage to that and she is obviously playing up to that fact and most likely doesnt act like that in real life and didnt think what she was doing was good. She obviously knew it was a joke and therefore quite funny to do.
Thats probably an important point to remember. Alot of people who are not asses will act like one for comedy value. Thats all this ad is, and she obviously got paid for the ad.
The comments:
“I guess they offered to pay her in Chicago Town pizzas and she was more than happy with this deal to make herself look like a giant lime and orange jelly having a fit.”
As she (amazingly) manages to “out-slag†Girls Aloud, with her bingo wings flailing and bosomers heaving in her bestest River Island dress,
is the main problem with your post.
A personal attack as if she actually decided to act like this and dress like this because she thought it was a good idea, instead of the fact its obviously an ad and they are actually making a deliberate choice to make her look like that because lets face it, you get alot of girls dressed like slags with no talent on these particular shows.
id say a TV’s worst advert site can be funny without personal attacks, comments on someones weight and all the rest of the below the belt comments.
Also, my opinion isnt wrong. Thats just an arrogant viewpoint. It is wrong in your eyes. There is a big difference between completely wrong and something you personally dont agree with.
I understand that and would not try to make you like this ad, as its your choice, however its universally wrong to act with no respect.

Bobby, Bobby, Bobby… will you not learn?
Your opinion in that last comment was all wrong again.
NB: Also, if I were you, I’d turn down the patronisation level when dealing with others; it’s really annoying.
So come on, Sunshine, I’m trying to help you here but you’ve got to help yourself too.

The ad is no longer available on You Tube (just as I was going to see what all the controversy was about as well!)

Bobby - the point of this site is to highlight unprofessional productions and performances in a highly cut throat business medium. This is clearly a fair target.
Don’t feel sorry for the muppets making arses of themselves in front of the nation. They don’t think of you or I when they’re cashing the cheques. Care in the Community Ok!
Although I have to say in the admens defence that a low budget production perfectly fits a low budget product in tarted up packaging.
